If you don’t want to wait one year for VW’s Golf R400, ABT Sportsline has just what you need. The world’s largest VW Group tuner has brought a heavily modified VW Golf R to the 2015 Wörthersee GTI Meeting. Sporting both design tweaks and performance upgrades, the custom Golf R can be seen at ABT Sportsline and H&R’s joint stand.
The car features a striking two-tone color scheme consisting of a green wrap applied over a black paint. The souped-up Golf rides on bi-color 20-inch ABT-FR wheels, with other design tweaks including the ABT front grille, headlight covers, side skirts and a rear diffuser with four chrome-plated exhaust outlets with a diameter of 102mm (4in) each.
Not many details have been released about the performance package, but we do know the essential. As its name suggests, the ABT 400 has 400PS (395hp), 100PS more than the production VW Golf R. This is the Stage 2 power kit developed by ABT Sportsline for the Golf R. Thanks to a modified ECU, output is boosted to 400PS (395hp) and 480Nm (356lb-ft) of torque.
