The legal debate between Apple and A123 Systems has ended into an agreement between the two companies.
“The parties have reached an agreement, signed a term sheet, and are in the process of drafting a final settlement agreement,” said the lawyers of A123 Systems in a court filing in Boston without providing any other details.
Electric-car battery maker A123 Systems filed a lawsuit back in February against Apple, accusing them of poaching some of its leading engineers, in order to work on the rumored Apple car project.
According to A123 Systems, this was a clear violation of the scientists’ agreement not to work for a competitor within a year of leaving the company. This lawsuit revealed Apple’s automotive project, despite of its best efforts to keep it a secret, which exposed the company’s recruitment of automotive experts.
Apple has been experimenting with the idea of building its own electric vehicle for some time now, with some sources talking about putting it into production as early as 2020. Apple has yet to announce anything on the subject, but industry experts remain pretty sure about the company’s plan of building its first vehicle.
