It’s been 40 years since the first time we saw BMW’s 3-Series, with the popular Bimmer making its debut in 1975.

The first generation was launched as a replacement for the successful 02 model at the 1975 Frankfurt Motor Show. Since then, the 3-Series has become the brand’s key player and an international bestseller. The combination of driver-focused handling with premium quality and innovative powertrains made the 3-Series one of the most lovable cars globally.

BMW’s fame was built on the shoulders of their compact executive model which for six generations and forty years now offers us one of the most accessible and rewarding RWD experiences on the market offered in the practical clothes of a sedan, a station wagon, a two-door coupe and a convertible. This is the car after all which spawned the legend of the M3.

E21, E30, E36, E46, E90, F30. There aren’t many cars out there you know them by their internal codes, especially in that segment. Which one is your favorite?
