A few years ago, Electronic Arts called up Shelby regarding a possible Need for Speed Edition Super Snake GT500 Mustang that was later supposed to be auctioned off.

Because of Shelby’s death in 2012, the auction was put on hold indefinitely. That is, until now. The goal of the auction is the same as before, to raise money for the Carroll Shelby Foundation and with a $125,000 asking price on eBay, people will surely try to get in on that action.

Speaking of which, it would appear that only preselected individuals have been allowed to bid for the GT500 – which still looks awesome and brand new with only 2,000 miles on the clock.

Looks-wise, it’s not exactly as aggressive as the GT500 driven by Tobey Marshall in the Need for Speed movie, but very few cars are. This particular Super Snake will definitely make its future owner very happy – even though some of us might want to spend those $125k on something more…German like a 911 Carrera 4 GTS or even the 911 GT3.

However, the NFS edition Mustang does pack quite a punch considering that its stock 5.0 liter naturally aspirated power unit has been replaced by a 5.4 liter supercharged one, delivering no fewer than 750 HP.

The car also comes with a revised 6-speed manual gearbox, a Ford Racing handling pack and 20″ HRE wheels.

In the end, the GT500 will be delivered to the winner of the auction at a special presentation in Vegas, where the car’s new owner will also enjoy a complete photo experience, VIP museum tour of Shelby American plus a Shelby jacket, coffee cup, military key chain and other little trinkets.
