What Castrol is showing in its latest ad for the Titanium Strong line of products is a very interesting blend of reality and fantasy.
They’re proposing you get into a car, put on a virtual reality helmet system and then no matter where you are, if it’s a flat surface (preferably a parking lot) you can actually drive your car with a virtual overlay on top.
If you think about it, playing a game on your gaming system at home is one thing, while driving a car in real life is another. This kind of concept combines the two and actually offers something that’s never been seen before – the idea behind this commercial video is really rather cool, but too bad they don’t really explain how it would work or if it’s really just a marketing stunt.
Regardless of that or not, the idea to overlay VR on top of driving a real car, but in a virtual world, is definitely a concept that needs more exploring and experimenting. It could be the next big thing in racing games…
