If you were paying attention to what Ferrari boss Maurizio Arrivabene was saying before the beginning of the season, you’d realize he’s singing to a whole different tune right now.
Arrivabene was starting to sound like an old record when talking about his low expectations for the year – not just the first couple of races.
Luckily for Ferrari, they showed up with a much better car than anybody would have anticipated, which has helped them, so far, race almost head to head with Mercedes.
We say “almost” because it’s still a struggle for Ferrari to best the champs. Even so, Arrivabene is urging his team to remain aggressive in their pursuit of more wins this year.
He also confirmed that it won’t be just other teams upgrading their cars in time for the Spanish Grand Prix, by saying that “We are now preparing, as all the others are, some solutions for Barcelona. We are doing all of our development step-by-step but I think in Barcelona, we are going to finally take a good package.”
A faster Ferrari does sound scary if you’re a Mercedes fan, or even a Williams fan, but bear in mind, none of those teams are standing still. This gap between races is ideal for everyone to improve their car and increase their odds of either winning races or scoring points.
