Ford is issuing a safety recall for certain 2015 F-150 models in North America, because of a serious problem.

We’re talking about 12,328 vehicles that might be affected by an upper I-shaft that might have been riveted improperly. If it were to separate, it could result in the loss of steering control without absolutely any warning to the driver. Ford stated that this could “increase the risk of a crash” to which all we can say is …yeah, no kidding!

Affected vehicles include certain F-150 trucks built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant from March 19, 2015 to March 21, 2015 as well as some F-150s built at the Dearborn Truck Plant from March 21, 2015 to March 30, 2015.

Of the 12,328 units that might be affected, 8,963 of them are in the U.S, with 3,348 in Canada and 17 in Mexico. Out of all those cars, 6,722 units are still unsold – which puts 5,606 of them in customer hands.

Naturally, after Ford dealers are done with inspecting the upper I-shaft assembly, if necessary, they will replace it at no cost to the customer.
