General Motors CEO Mary Barra is clearly an automotive enthusiast, otherwise she wouldn’t have ordered a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible for herself, would she?
This week, workers from Bowling Green Assembly Plant’s UAW Local 2164 assembled a black Corvette Z06 convertible that will reportedly be shipped to GM’s headquarters in Detroit for CEO Mary Barra.
According to a report from Corvette Blogger, which also features some photos of the car taken inside the factory by a worker, Barra’s Corvette Z06 features both the Z07 Performance Package and the new 8-speed automatic transmission.
The Z06 Convertible sports a sinister look thanks to the body color, black top and black aluminum wheels – only the Brembo brake calipers are yellow. Judging from the rear spoiler, the car also features the Stage 1 aerodynamics package – the front spoiler is apparently part of the dealer pre-delivery inspection (PDI) and will be installed when the car gets to Detroit.
Mary Barra’s Corvette Z06 features the stock 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 650hp at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque at 3,600 rpm. With the 8-speed auto, the Z06 sprints from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.95 seconds and does a quarter-mile run in 10.95 seconds. Not bad for a company car, don’t you think?
