If you’re like us and you think that driving around in a military-styled SUV is awesome, then check out what German aftermarket company IMSA just did with the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG.
Generally, the 400kw (536 HP) G63 AMG should provide enough excitement for you when you’re behind the wheel, hauling all of its 2,550 kg (5,621 lbs).
With that in mind, it’s more than capable of hitting 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, which is amazing for a car this heavy but, granted, some owners may want to drive a 4 second SUV – since 5 seconds is so “2005”.
This is where IMSA steps in with its upgraded package for the G63, making sure your G-Wagen will stand out even more than it already does.
First thing you’ll notice is the new body kit with carbon fiber front grille, side mirror caps, hood and so on. The new wheel arches house these beautiful light 22″ forged rims coupled with 305/40R22 tires. Chassis-wise, the G63 also gets new custom shock absorbers.
Inside the cabin there’s two-tone leather upholstery and two individual seats in the back instead of a typical bench setup. There’s also a new rear center console from where the passengers can control certain comfort related functions.
And now to the performance aspect! Thanks to the new exhaust system, IMSA turbochargers, sports cats and charge air cooler, this car right here now produces 720 HP (537 kW) and 1,035 Nm (764 lb-ft) of peak torque.
So yes, this should now definitely be a “4 second SUV”. Besides, it already looks quite spectacular.
