Usually, it’s very easy to poke holes in most car ads. The manufacturers talk a good game but it’s mostly just their marketing skills doing the talking. Not so much this time though.
All you need to do in order to arrive at the same conclusion is take the Mercedes-Benz GLA out for a spin. It is, as they say, “100% Mercedes-Benz”. Besides, when it looks like a Benz, feels like a Benz and drives like a Benz, it sure as hell isn’t a Subaru.
So is it really part adrenaline, part adventure? Sure, why not? You could probably experience both in this car as you could in just about any other car. Part geek, part chic? Certainly so. You can get it with 14-way adjustable power driver seat, harman/kardon LOGIC7 sound system, 7″ display with 80GB hdd navigation, in-dash SD card reader plus a few other goodies. And it’s a really good looking car, both inside and out.
What else do they say in the video? Oh, that it’s part relaxation and part exhilaration – which it is. It’s a surprisingly comfortable long distance cruiser and surprisingly agile thanks to its capable engines and fast 7G-DCT transmission.
As for part sports car and part SUV, well these two are easy. Go ahead and argue against it being sporty when it can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.8 seconds thanks to its 360 PS (355 HP) turbocharged engine. Of course we’re talking about the GLA45 AMG 4MATIC version here.
But seriously now, 4.8 seconds? It’s the same as what you used to get in the previous generation Audi RS4. Or even the current one which hits the mark in 4.7 seconds.
However, when you’re done being “sporty”, you can go ahead take it offroad (slightly), where it will give you a little bit of confidence thanks to its all-wheel drive and decent ground clearance.
There you have it. This car is exactly what Mercedes says it is. And with a starting price of $31,300 MSRP in the US, it’s good value too if you’ll “settle” for the GLA250.
