BMW will show a new concept car named the 3,0 CSL Hommage that pays tribute to the iconic E9 3.0 CSL nicknamed “Batmobile” from the 1970s at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on May 22.

There’s only a single teaser of the car right now, but much like the M1 Homage from 2008 and the 328 Hommage speedster from 2011 that were revealed at the same event, the 3.0 CSL Hommage will be a retro-modern take on the original.

“The Hommage draws on the character of the earlier model and endows it with cutting-edge materials to translate it into the present in a new and exciting guise,” said BMW in a brief statement.

The Bavarian firm added that the car makes extensive use of carbon fiber and comes with an interior that features only the “absolutely essential” to keep the weight down. No other details were offered, so we don’t know what powers the one-off 3.0 CSL Hommage, but we will find out in the next week or so.
