Get it? It’s like House of Cards, the politically-themed TV drama starring Kevin Spacey, but with cars… somehow. That’s the title The Mirror says could be chosen for the upcoming show hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
It would make sense if this were true, and it sounds like a choice based on knowledge of the internet and SEO techniques – people are already searching for House of Cards, and if they mistype it, they inadvertently search for House of Cars; it’s brilliant (if true).
As you can imagine, even with the three fabled presenters on board, this new show will still have to get its name out there, make sure it’s easy to search and also remember.
Apparently, they need permission from Netflix (owners of the House of Cards brand) to use it.
It’s been speculated that Netflix would be a much better home for the new show, at least a better one than advertisement-endorsed ITV, which could put a muzzle on Clarkson and the gang (including producer Andy Wilman) if what they say on the show contradicts their sponsorship contracts.
