VW has introduced new EU6 engines to the Golf Cabriolet, reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption by up to 15 percent.

The VW Golf Cabriolet is from now on available with four TSI and two TDI engines. The TSI units are a 105PS (104hp) 1.2-liter, a 125PS (123hp) 1.4-liter, a 150PS (148hp) 1.4-liter and a 220PS (217hp) 2.0-liter in the Golf GTI Cabriolet. Both diesels on offer have a 2.0-liter displacement and outputs of 110PS (109hp) and 150PS (148hp).

In the case of the Golf GTI Cabriolet, the 10PS increase helps lower the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint to 6.9 seconds, compared to 7.3 seconds before.

The GTI version also gets the highest increase in fuel efficiency – 15 percent to 6.5 l/100 km (43.4 mpg UK or 36.2 mpg US).

The most powerful diesel also gains 10PS over the previous version, as well as 20Nm for a total of 340Nm (251lb-ft). As a consequence, the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration drops by 0.7 seconds to 9.2 seconds, while the average fuel consumption drops by 0.5 l/100 km to 4.6 l/100 km (61.4 mpg UK or 51.1 mpg US).

In addition to the new engines, the drop top Golf has received the latest generation radio and navigation systems Composition Colour and Composition Media. Furthermore, the navigation system Discover Media is available. All updates of the navigation software are included for the first three years.
