This latest D4 Biturbo spot is more about those quiet, calming road trips than it is about blasting through the country side, breaking every law imaginable in your “sort of M4” BMW.
Naturally, you can listen to just about any type of music you please when it’s your car we’re talking about – and if that car happens to be a 3.0 liter six cylinder Bi-Turbo diesel BMW 4 Series Coupe with an Alpina badge, lucky you.
The Alpina D4 Biturbo is by no means a pseudo M4, unless you’re a massive petrol-head (emphasis on the Petrol), because it will rock your world almost as good as the original would.
Almost. Because, to be fair, the M4 can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) as quick as 4.1 seconds, which is half a second faster than the D4 Biturbo, yet in the Alpina you get 150 extra Nm (110 lb-ft) and your fuel consumption will be much improved.
We also love the way the Alpina looks, especially with those classic 20” wheels that are absolutely stunning.
But if you feel like you have to find a cheaper alternative to the D4, you may just as well go with a regular BMW 435d xDrive Coupe. You get less horsepower and a little less torque but, your 0-100 time will be nearly identical and so will your fuel consumption.
Then you can get the M Sport package or visit a local tuning company and you’re all set.
