As far as Facebook contests go, the latest one from Porsche is probably the coolest we’ve seen in a long time.
To celebrate 10 million fans on its Facebook page, Porsche has awarded a dream prize to a lucky fan: a 1,000-kilometer (621-mile) road trip across the UK in the 918 Spyder.
Why 1,000 kilometers? Because it equates to ten million decimeters – one decimeter for each Facebook fan. The contest hosted on the social network consisted of a panorama photo illustrating a section of the route included in the road trip, with fans asked to guess its location.
The person closest to the actual site was Ingo Vandenberghe from Vienna, who was invited to the UK to claim his prize: 1,000 kilometers in the Porsche 918 Spyder. While he sat in the passenger seat for most of the trip, Porsche really surprised him when he arrived at the Silverstone circuit and was told he could drive the hybrid hypercar himself.
