Nowadays, the motoring world moves lighting fast in terms of evolution. Before you ever get a grip on what’s going on, it’s already been replaced with something newer and more complicated.

New automobiles are blossoming all over the place and car manufacturers are trying to stuff them with more and more content. More power, more space, more weight, more technology.

Porsche’s GT division boss, Andreas Preuninger is fed up with this practice, especially when it comes to his beloved performance babies; so, although Porsche recently revealed the GT3 line-up, Preuninger is already talking about its successor.

In an interview with Car Magazine, Preuninger stated that his next concern, when it comes to the future of the GT3, will be losing weight, not adding power. He went on saying he’s not a believer in horsepower monsters and the optimal output for a GT3, in his personal opinion, is 500bhp because 700 – 800 bhp calls for bigger brakes, heftier suspension and an overall increase of weight.

Don’t worry, the future car won’t be less powerful, but it will surely be less heavy and, in our personal opinion, that’s the way to go with a 911. Especially with a road going track version of the beast. Don’t forget, some 911’s are fiercely known for their unforgiving tendencies. It’s not the kind of car that allows you to blink at high speed, or in the corners.

So, it’s nice to know where Porsche is headed, but the goodies don’t stop here. We’ve got some awesome news for Porsche fans and petrolheads around the world: According to Preuninger, the future GT3 line-up will maintain a naturally aspirated power-plant, instead of going turbo. Furthermore, there’s a hint the future models can be paired with a manual transmission.
