If you’re into tuned Mustangs, then you’re in luck. The aftermarket scene never disappoints when it comes to Ford’s stallion, especially if we’re talking about high-powered modified versions of it. With players like Saleen, Hennessey and, the new challenger, Roush, there’s never a shortage of options.
Thanks to tuning houses like these, some Mustangs can’t be called pony cars anymore. For instance, we had a hint Roush was coming with its own unique approach for the Stage 3 package, but never thought 670 bhp will be its proving point.
Yes, the 5.0-litre Coyote V8, mated with a 2.3-litre TVS Supercharger, peaks 670 ponies (pun intended) at its 6,800 rev limit. Of course, the power isn’t over the top, like its counterparts from Saleen and Hennessey, but it boasts an impressive torque figure of 545 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 RPM – that’s 738Nm.
Power is nothing without control, and that’s why Roush is offering some track orientated additional equipment in the form of its TrakPak 3-way adjustable Coilover Suspension as opposed the single-adjustable option fitted in the standard Stage 3 kit. The TrakPak 3 kit allows you to setup the suspension’s height, compression and rebound, giving you full control in the corners.
What do you think; will the Roush modified Mustang will be faster around a track than the over the top Saleen and Hennessey versions?
