With the exception of the recently-launched 231PS (228hp) Mini John Cooper Works, the Mini Challenge 210 Edition is the most powerful production Mini one can buy today.

Essentially a tuned Mini Cooper S, the Mini Challenge 210 is a limited edition model that pays homage to the Mini Challenge racing series.

Only 210 units will be built, all featuring black stripes, carbon fiber bonnet air intake and mirror covers, black additional LED headlights with black trim, sport pack with 18-inch Cup spoke alloy wheels, sports rear bumper and black light trims.

But the most important addition is the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which has been uprated to 210PS (207hp) and 300Nm (221lb-ft) of torque. But how does that compare with the wild Mini Challenge race car?

With 275hp and 400Nm (295lb-ft) of torque produced by the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the racing Mini is also significantly lighter than the production car. Steve Sutcliffe (now with Auto Express) has driven both on the Castle Combe circuit and gives his verdict in the following video.
