You may not be aware of it, but the VW Polo Sedan still exists in markets like Russia and India, where it is called the Vento.
Following the Polo hatchback’s facelift launched last year, the Polo Sedan has now received a minor visual upgrade as well, which consists of a new radiator grille, redesigned lower bumper, sharper headlights with integrated DRLs and LED taillights. Other updates include new alloy wheels, hubcap designs and fresh body colors.
Interior upgrades include a new steering wheel (the same as in the Polo hatch) as well as a slightly revised center console with optional faux-aluminum trim.
Standard equipment now includes air conditioning, power locks, front and rear power windows and ABS.
In Russia, the VW Polo Sedan is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine available in two states of tune: 85PS (84hp) or 105PS (104hp). Both engines are offered as standard with a five-speed manual gearbox, while a six-speed automatic is optional.
In India, the VW Vento is offered with a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine producing 105PS (104hp), a 1.6-liter petrol with 105PS (104hp) and a 1.5-liter diesel engine (yes, 1.5-liter) with 105PS (104hp). Transmission options include a standard five-speed manual and a seven-speed DSG automatic.
The VW Polo Sedan is built in Kaluga, Russia and will go on sale on the local market in June. The VW Vento is built in Pune, India and has been exported to Mexico since 2014.
