Since the Model S is such an international hit for Tesla, it’s only natural there would be a lot of interest surrounding the creation of a smaller, cheaper and even more modern car along the same lines.
We’ve had countless renderings so far, all of which feature the same basic shape as the Model S “sedan” but shrunk down by about 20 percent. This effort by Theophilus Chin goes a bit further, playing with the overall profile and shape of the front and rear lights.
The designer explains he actually used the new Jaguar XE as a base over which he pasted modified Tesla elements. It looks nice and different enough to the Model S, not just in size.
The only problem with this design is the sheer amount of metal between the bottom of the rear side window and the top of the wheel arch. Many new cars have this in the quest for interior space and easy access, but it certainly doesn’t help the look; perhaps it’s realistic, since Tesla is keen to offer a big an airy interior, and in this smaller package they may have to compromise the style to achieve it.
