One car that is definitely not in need of a mid-cycle facelift but will be getting one anyway is the current generation VW Golf.
Sure, you could argue that all cars need the ever popular facelift in order to give them a boost in style as well as sales, but it just so happens that the Golf is just blowing everything else away in terms of sales, and nobody..anywhere, is complaining about the way in which it looks.
Regardless, here we have a few really good renderings by RM Design of not just the typical VW Golf 5-door hatchback, but also the leaner, meaner and equally iconic GTI version.
You’re looking at a slightly modified front end design with new Passat and Touran styling cues, as well as full-LED rear lights. While we appreciate the work, if VW does indeed apply this design philosophy when it comes to the grille, the car might end up looking a bit less aggressive.
As for the GTI version, we have absolutely no complaints. It looks great now and it looks equally well in this image. Actually, it might even look a bit better with the taller grille – reminds us of the Golf Mk6 GTI‘s grille, which is a good thing.
However, VW did design these particular headlights with a thinner grille in mind and whether or not they would risk altering the front end of the car that much, remains to be seen.
