Precision is the main keyword when talking about the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. It is, as you can imagine, a beefed up version of the regular latest gen GT3, a car that won a lot of praise, despite being criticized at first.
The regular GT3 wasn’t criticized for the way it drove, or any technical aspect, really, but for the lack of a manual gearbox. Now that journos have had a chance to drive both it and the even more bonkers RS, they think the gearbox is perfectly suited for the car and that it doesn’t actually need a manual, as that would detract from the performance…
It’s funny how Porsche’s expert marketing spin has convinced reviewers that a manual gearbox would be out of place in the GT3 and RS, but do you really agree?
Yes, the GT3 RS is built for speed, but not in the same way as the 911 Turbo – that’s a much more suitable car to feature the PDK, but I think they should have still offered the manual on these naturally aspirated cars where the experience of driving is important.
