Here’s what appears to be the first ever actual teaser of Alfa Romeo’s upcoming Giulia (name not officially confirmed yet) compact executive sedan, one of the most anticipated models of the year.
Italy’s rival to the established German trio of Audi’s A4, BMW‘s 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz’s C-Class, as well as Cadillac’s ATS and Lexus’ IS, is one of the industry’s best-kept secrets.
In fact, the closest we’ve come to seeing the car up until now, are a set of low-quality shots of a heavily camouflaged prototype that we showed you just last week.
The teaser announces the online debut date for the new sedan on June 24, 2015, and includes a fuzzy picture of what is obviously, the new Giulia.
From the very few details that Alfa Romeo has released so far on their sedan that is internally known as ‘Type 949 952‘, the most attention grabbing is the availability of two new engine families, a ‘high output’ turbocharged 4-cylinder and a ‘Ferrari-derived’ V6 specifically developed for Alfa.
It is believed that the Giulia will ride on a modified version of the Maserati Ghibli’s rear-drive architecture, with all-wheel drive likely to be offered as an option with certain powertrains.
After the introduction of the car on June 24, the new Alfa sedan will start rolling out to European dealerships towards the end of the year or early 2016, with North America to follow.
