After seeing the first 2017 Audi A5 prototypes on the road, we knew it was only a matter of time before the sportier models made their appearance too.
We don’t know how long we’ll have to wait for Audi to begin testing the next RS5, but for now, we can show you the new S5 Coupe that in prototype form, has slightly larger air intakes up front, bigger brakes and the most obvious difference over the A5 Coupe tester, a quad exhaust system.
In production guise, it will get the usual assortment of “S” kit seen on other Audis such as different wheels, bulkier side sills, rear diffuser, small spoilers on both ends of the car, and LEX and matrix laser lights on the outside, together with a sportier trimmed interior.
Technically, the A5 is the coupe version of the next A4, so the S5 will share its powertrain and lighter chassis with the new S4. Both will get an uprated version of the current 3.0-liter supercharged V6 nudged between 340 and 360hp, up from the current 328hp (333PS), linked to an S-tronic dual clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.
