Skoda’s latest flagship model has just passed its rigorous Euro NCAP tests with flying colors, earning a full 5-star rating.
The Superb has been awarded the maximum rating for occupant protection for adults and children, pedestrian protection and safety assistance systems.
In case your luck runs out and you end up crashing your new Superb, up to 9 airbags, a more rigid body and optimized crumple zones will take care of you as far as occupant protection is concerned.
Looking at the images as well as the video below, you’ll be able to see all 4 crash tests and the 1 crash avoidance test. The Superb earned mainly ‘good’ and ‘adequate’ scores (which are the best two) but also one ‘marginal’ score in the frontal full width test regarding the driver’s chest area.
Another ‘marginal’ result occurred during the whiplash rear impact for rear seat passengers.
The Superb also happens to be Skoda’s first model fitted with masked high beam (Smart Light Assist), Blind Spot Detection, Rear Traffic Alert, Traffic Jam Assist and Emergency Assist. You also get Adaptive Cruise Control, Crew Protect Assist, Lane Assist, Speed Limiter, traffic sign recognition plus standard electronic stability control & multi-collision brake.
Most EU countries also get standard Front Assist with City Emergency Brake, electronic tire pressure monitor and XDS+, but not all.
Of course there have been other Skoda models that also received 5-star ratings during Euro NCAP tests, such as the Yeti, Citigo, Rapid and latest generation Fabia and Octavia models.
As for the all-new Superb, it really couldn’t have afforded a poor showing during its crash tests, since this is now arguably the best car Skoda has ever produced, and image is everything.
