As if the Le Mans 24 Hours race wasn’t enough to keep auto enthusiasts busy this weekend, Ford and Renault will have two major announcements for fans too.

Ford said it would release “significant performance news” on Friday, June 12, on the eve of the race, and everyone expects the announcement to be about the racing version of the all-new Ford GT.

Renault, on the other hand, says it will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Alpine with a surprise at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The automaker confirmed the announcement would be made on Saturday, June 13, at 1.35 p.m. local time.

According to recent reports, the French automaker will unveil a pre-production concept of the Alpine sports car which is scheduled to launch next year.

Renault didn’t offer any details about the Le Mans surprise, but the study is expected to pay tribute to the Alpine A110. The production car will be a rear-wheel drive, two-seat coupe with approximately 250hp and a curb weight of around 1,100 kg (2,425 lbs).

The car’s final design has reportedly been approved, with insiders saying it will look nothing like the 2012 Alpine A110-50 concept (pictured). The new Alpine is expected to cost between €30,000 and €35,000.
