When Jaguar axed the XK Coupe and Convertible models last year, it had no immediate plans for a replacement, but officials would not rule one out either for the near future.
In the months that followed, we heard former XK and current F-Type Programme Director Russ Varney hinting at a more luxurious GT successor, which sounds a lot like a Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe rival.
If Jaguar does go down that road, then the next XK will not look anything like the design concept you see here and which was penned by Jennarong Muengtaweepongsa of VanaticalDesign – the same 15-year old kid from Thailand who designed the sub-Agera Koenigsegg, Aston Martin DB11 and the PSC Motors study.
Muengtaweepongsa’s XK “Envision” Concept is clearly more supercar than GT, which is not a bad thing per se, but it doesn’t match Jaguar’s preliminary vision of what a successor to the XK should be like.
According to the young lad from Thailand, “the initial goal for the design was to create something that had the signature look of the XK, so when you look at it, you can instantly tell that it is an XK, while at the same time incorporating elements from the later Jaguars such as the CX-75 and F-Type“.
