Seat has released full details of the facelifted Ibiza lineup, which goes on sale in late summer 2015 in Europe.
While exterior modifications are limited to new headlamps with LED daytime running lights, new 16- and 17-inch wheels and new paint colors (Moonstone Grey and Chilli Red), the new Ibiza offers new Colour Packs, which feature a range of trim elements in a different color than the bodywork.
The interior has also received fully customizable elements, as well as a new interface, but the main highlight is the addition of MirrorLink, which allows the driver to safely operate smartphones and many of their functions and apps via the Ibiza’s infotainment system.
The new Ibiza is the first model in the Seat lineup to feature exclusive connectivity solutions “powered by Samsung”. Seat will offer a Samsung Galaxy A3 with the pre-installed Seat ConnectApp over 35 countries. The app’s main functions are “Read to me” and “Voice Reply,” which convert incoming e-mail, text messaging, Facebook or Twitter messages into speech. Answers to new posts can be “dictated” by voice. Another function is gesture control for calls or contact addresses.
In terms of engines, the refreshed Seat Ibiza family gets a completely new generation of petrol and diesel units. The entry-level petrol engine is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder with 75PS (74hp) in naturally aspirated format and 95PS (94hp) or 110PS (109hp) as a TSI turbo.
There’s also a four-cylinder 1.4 TSI ACT with active cylinder management with an improved output of 150PS (148hp) and torque of 250Nm (184lb-ft), which returns a combined 4.8 l/100 km (58.8 mpg UK or 48 mpg US). Even more economical is the 1.0 TSI Ecomotive with 95PS, which averages 4.1 l/100 km (68.9 mpg UK or 57.3 mpg US), corresponding to a CO2 figure of 94 g/km.
As for diesel units, the most economical is the 1.4 TDI with 75PS (74hp) which averages 3.4 l/100 km (83 mpg UK or 69.1 mpg US), with CO2 emissions of 88 g/km. Other engines on offer are a 1.6 TDI offered in two states of tune: 90 PS (89hp) and 105PS (104hp).
All engines comply with the latest EU6 emissions standards and are offered with standard manual transmissions (the 110PS TSI and 90PS TDI are also available with DSG transmissions).
