If you’re a Force India fan and you’re wondering what your team is up to, know that they’re currently installing more and more b-spec parts on the car and testing them in Austria.
The final product will debut in 3 weeks time at Silverstone and if you’ve been paying attention to their form in the past couple of races, things should start to go really well for them.
Force India deputy team principal Bob Fernley said that “We’ve been steadily introducing new parts from the [B-spec] car since Monaco,” which indeed coincides with their new and improved form.
In Monaco it was Sergio Perez who finished P7, while Hulkenberg took home P8 in Canada. Last weekend in Austria both Force India cars finished in the points with Hulkenberg 6th and Perez 9th.
What this means is that they’ve been consistently faster than pretty much ever team other than Mercedes, Ferrari and Williams.
Their closest rival in terms of recent results & form has been Lotus – and since both teams are currently using Mercedes engines, we can expect them to put on a show in the next couple of races as well.
“At the Austria test we now want to do the aero verification and correlation, so there will be some key bodywork processes to be done. We’re on target for everything that we want to do. If anything, we’re probably slightly ahead of target because we’ve brought these components in early,” added Fernley.
If their b-spec car is going to be all that they hope, it could mean even more bad news for the likes of Red Bull.
Then again, maybe we shouldn’t be surprised if all Mercedes-powered cars start dominating the rest of the pack. Ferrari are definitely alone on an island right now.
