Hyundai has released the first sketch of the upcoming Creta subcompact SUV, which will debut later this year in India before arriving in global markets.
Like all official sketches, this one looks dynamic and sporty, but if you compare it with pictures of the ix25 Concept unveiled last year in China you will realize they match perfectly. The headlights, the trapezoidal grille and the design of the front bumper look almost identical.
Hyundai says the design of the Creta “follows a premium look, based on Hyundai Motor’s evolved design philosophy,” with the vehicle sporting “a bold front, voluminous side and sporty rear.”
Just like the Hyundai ix25 pre-production study, the Creta features a hidden A-pillar, which has a double role according to the automaker: it gives the car a more dynamic appearance and hints at an open and airy cabin.
The Hyundai Creta will most likely have the same footprint as the ix25 study: an overall length of 4,270mm (168in), a width of 1,780mm (70in), a height of 1,630mm (64.2in)and a wheelbase of 2,590mm (102in). As for engines, Hyundai will probably adapt its offer according to each region, with downsized engines preferred for European markets. The ix25 Concept unveiled in China was equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with an unspecified output.
