Riding within a very close group when you’re on a bike is somewhat of a tricky situation. You need to be constantly aware of your surroundings.
Before I get into what happened here, I want to point out that despite saying the words “Inevitable Crash”, I don’t mean it as being unavoidable. It’s simply.. very likely to happen.
Sure, the guy that crashed into the initial motorcycle probably shouldn’t be operating any type of motorized vehicle. When you stop getting a sense of what’s in front of you and how fast you’re going, you need to start using public transportation.
Yes, the first motorcycle that got hit did swerve a little bit to the right, but come on, was that guy really going for some type of public road “chin music”? Murphy’s law anybody?
Now, once the first crash took place, the guy with the helmet cam had, in my opinion, plenty of time to go around. Of course, in order to do that he would have had to be riding more preemptively.
He should have realized there was going to be a crash (it’s easy, just watch the freaking road ahead!), and he should have started slowing down at that moment.
Slowing down would have given him enough time to anticipate going around any sort of motorcycle debris – but hey, if you’ll always keep your foot on the gas (hand), and never slow down just because you’re aware something bad COULD happen, you will constantly put yourself in a position to never anticipate anything.
That’s how you get hurt. And by the sound of things, that little tumble hurt quite a lot.
