Attention La Ferrari owners: Ferrari has issued two voluntary recalls concerning some of the automobile’s safety features.
Apparently, the seat headrests and the tire pressure monitoring system are causing some mild inconveniences to the perfectly built and outrageously fast mid-engine hypercar, as they don’t function properly.
The headrests mounted on L32 large-size seats may not absorb the required amount of energy in case of a crash, which means they fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. Don’t laugh, this is serious.
The second recall was issued due to the tire pressure monitoring system failing to display the correct message in case of a tire puncture. As Ferrari noted on NHTSA’s website, the system displays the incorrect warning message “Low Tire Pressure-Max speed 50 mph” instead of the correct message “Low Tire Pressure-Do not proceed“.
Basically, in case of a puncture, the driver is instructed to continue driving instead of pulling over to the side of the road.
Ferrari dealers will address both issues by installing new headrests and updating the car’s software to display the correct readout. Both operations will be conducted free of charge.
The recall is targeted at U.S delivered examples only and affects 85 cars manufactured between May 15, 2014 and March 4, 2015.
This is not the first time Ferrari issues a recall on this particular model, as all LaFerraris were summoned to have their fuel tanks replaced due to possible fire hazards. Needless to say, it was a total recall.
Correction: a previous version of this story said that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued the recall when in fact, it was a voluntary recall from Ferrari
