Regardless of its environment, the Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the world’s fastest and most advanced hypercars.
Which does kind of raise the question of when exactly does such a car bite off more than it can chew? We’ve already seen it go against the likes of the LaFerrari and the McLaren P1, where the 918 more than just held its own.
But what about something that until not too long ago, was at the top of the hypercar food chain? We are indeed talking about the 1,200 HP Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
On paper, it has roughly 300 HP more than the Porsche and more torque, yet it’s heavier and it doesn’t shift quite as fast as the 918. You couldn’t be blamed for thinking that this would be a pretty even fight, just like nobody would blame you if you thought the Bugatti would just smoke the hybrid hypercar.
This is one of those rare videos where we’d rather not spoil it for you guys (at least not all the way).
So let’s just say that the results are…inconclusive. They raced each other a total of 6 times at a GoldRush Rally drag racing event and, well, you’ll just have to see for yourself.
Still, we should also say that when it comes to cars with so much power, a 1/4 mile race shouldn’t help anybody decide between the two. They’re simply way too fast and need a lot more room in order to see which of them actually obtains proper separation at high speed.
