Way to go Walter Thomas! And no, we’re not being sarcastic about that.
You see, the 91-year-old father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather from Woodstock, Illinois, had the bizarre request for some, completely understandable for others – us included, of backing a car through a garage door as the last thing on his bucket list.
“[My grandfather] told me a long time ago that he always wanted to back a car through the garage door,” his granddaughter Becky Goers, tells the Woodstock Independent. “He always wondered if the garage door would pop off, or if the frame would come down with it.”
Thomas, who owned four separate gas stations in Woodstock over the past 50 years and also collected and repaired antique cars, got his wish when his grandchild, Andrew Thomas, a Sheriff’s Office deputy, found a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo heading to the junk yard and his other grandchild, Brian Thomas, learned about a friend who wanted to demolish their one-car garage.
This past Sunday, Walter Thomas put on his safety helmet and crossed out his bucket list item. See how he did it in the video that follows.
H/T to Maria!
