Generally speaking, car manufacturers haven’t been particularly successful at mixing their new models with the possibility of extra terrestrial life.
In fact, they almost always end up with a rather silly commercial, don’t they? Last month alone we had that ‘Close Encounter‘ spot featuring the Ford Fiesta, which really didn’t make a whole lot of sense.
However, Skoda is going about it differently by making the story behind the commercial a little more “movie-like”.
The man’s eyes lighting up as he delivers his line reminds us of multiple movies where the visitors from space were already among us. Whereas the woman excited about making contact with intelligent life reminds us of..who else but Jodie Foster from Contact – arguably one of the best movies ever made.
As for the new Skoda Superb, we can definitely relate to the ‘Travel in Style. Travel in Space’ slogan. In fact, Skoda wants us to look at the Superb as not necessarily a more intelligent car than its rivals, but a more intelligent purchase when you put everything into perspective.
The Superb has the tech, has the comfort and the looks to give the Passat and the Mondeo a proper run for their money – which means that it will definitely be a very successful car in its segment.
And no, intelligent life shouldn’t need to come from space in order to like the Superb’s chances against its rivals.
