Toyota will bring six GT86 coupes finished in one-off classic liveries at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, as a celebration of its great race and rally cars of the past.
Complimented by vinyl wraps and decals plus lowered springs, stainless steel exhaust and retro-styled wheels, the liveries will bring back the classic look on the company’s current sports coupe.
Each of the six cars is inspired by a different model, including two sporting versions of Toyota’s original sports car, the 2000GT, and Ove Andersson’s 1970s Celica 1600GT rally car – the vehicle that helped inspire Toyota to launch a full international motorsports program.
The other three cars are the IMSA GTU Celica that raced in North America in the 1980s, the World Rally Championship Celica GT-Four and the Esso Ultron Tiger Supra from the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship.
Key elements from the original liveries were reproduced in the right proportions for the GT86 by vehicle vinyl specialist Motor Mode. Additionally, all cars feature new springs that bring the ride height down by 40mm, while Rota has provided new wheels in different finishes to capture the retro look. Finally, a new Milltek Sport stainless steel exhaust system completes the look.
All six Toyota GT86 coupes will be available for public drives in the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s Moving Motor Show on June 25. After that, they will be on static display supporting the GT86 Drift Experience at Goodwood’s race circuit.
