Once his contract expires at the end of this season, Williams’ Valtteri Bottas is expected to listen very carefully to what Ferrari will be prepared to offer him.
As of right now, reports suggest that Ferrari are Bottas’ main suitors, since they might be also looking to replace Kimi Raikkonen for next year.
A Vettel-Bottas duo for Ferrari would be quite a talented mix, besides we really don’t see him turning down Williams for anybody other than Ferrari since the Italians can also help him compete for a title.
Looking at his career so far, it’s pretty clear that he’s one of the fastest drivers on the grid today. He currently sits 5th in the Driver Standings with 67 points, 5 points behind Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.
“There are a lot of rumors,” said Bottas. “Nothing has changed for me. As always I’m concentrating on this season. That is best for me and the team. We will know later what happens.”
Of course, that’s what you’re supposed to say to the media. All professional race car drivers or professional athletes are constantly on top of everything that involves their careers since that’s why they pay their agents..so that they can keep them up to date with who’s interested in them, contract negotiations and so on.
If he does leave for Ferrari, Williams will be losing a driver that finished 4th in the standings last year and displayed some serious driving skills.
