Buick is expanding the range of its small crossover with the 2016 Encore Sport Touring that boasts a new and more powerful 1.4-liter turbo’d engine.
Billed as a “more spirited take” on the Encore, the Sport Touring’s 1.4L turbo is based on an all-new engine family, sharing only its displacement with the Encore’s standard 1.4L turbo engine.
It produces 153hp and 177 lb-ft of torque (240 Nm) representing an 11 percent increase in horsepower and nearly 20 percent more torque than the Encore’s standard engine (138hp and 148 lb-ft or 200Nm).
The four-cylinder unit comes with standard start/stop tech and is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front or optionally, all four wheels.
Buick also added some extra standard features to the Sport Touring including a winged rear spoiler, 18-inch alloys, body-color door handles and the Convenience package that adds a 120-volt power outlet, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, dual-zone climate control, fog lamps, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert and remote starting.
