The future of meaty, AMG-tuned German automobiles seems to be bright
I couldn’t help but feel a little saddened by the fact that the C63 AMG went out of production and took the old-school, naturally aspirated, 6.3-litre V8 lump along with it. But at least Mercedes is planning something just as awesome with the initials “AMG” and a Coupe bodied C-Class.
Everybody knows the car’s arrival is imminent, as Mercedes continuously teases it, but the German car manufacturer doesn’t hesitate to label it as something stupendously fast. And it might be, since it has been developed on the ‘Ring (like any other sports automobile).
Needless to say, the 2017 C63 AMG has been spotted working its way around the Green Hell and the thing seems to be a devil of a car. Just look how tail happy it gets while exiting the concrete surface around Kleines Karussell, but that’s to be expected from a German muscle developing at least 470 Hp.
Anyway, I don’t know how Mercedes thinks downsizing works, but a 4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 isn’t exactly…you know, small. But you know what? I’m not complaining. In fact, I’m glad they’re sticking with the V8 layout.
A tail-happy AMG is a proper AMG.
