Aston Martin says it won’t built a street version of the Vulcan.
We hoped until the last minute that the car manufacturer from Gaydon will listen to its affluent customers and construct a road-worthy variant of the almighty Vulcan.
Apparently, Aston downplayed any further rumors, by confirming that a road-legal, track-inspired V12 monster won’t happen. In fact, speaking with Top Gear, an Aston Martin spokesman said:
“We have been asked by a number of prospects if we could convert the car for road use. However, there are no plans to develop a road-going version and our engineers are solely focused on creating the ultimate Aston Martin track-based supercar.”
With a name like Vulcan – which, by the way, makes a reference to the Greek / Roman God of fire and volcanoes – this 7-litre V12, fire breathing, flame spitting titan would have made a great road legal car, don’t you think? But, like Aston’s product manager stated before, converting one to road-usage is too much of a hassle for the engineers.
That said, this 700 HP beast will continue to live its life only on the track and at special occasions. It’s a rare thing too; with only 24 scheduled to be built it’s unlikely you would see one anytime soon.
But hey, just to put some salt on the wound, I prepped a video of the thing launching and screaming and making a tantrum at Goodwood. After watching it, you’ll understand why it has a God’s name.
