Audi could have changed up the way it styles the rear end of its A4 Avant, because with estates there’s really more you can do with the design these days to keep it fresh.
The way Audi designed it, it looks like you would have expected it to, but the way Theophilus Chin reworked it in this rendering I think is more successful. Blackening out rearmost roof pillars is common now in the industry and many cars have successfully integrated this into their overall design.
It looks pretty good on the A4 Avant too, and it doesn’t make it overly flamboyant thus possibly scaring Audi’s quite conservative buying public. The effect it has on the overall look is quite satisfying too, and in this rendering maybe even more than some real cars, the roof really does look like it’s floating (from the front 3/4 view).
