Typically, carmakers debut mainstream versions of their new models and then follow up with the high-performance editions, but Alfa Romeo took the opposite road with the Giulia.
The Italians marked their return to the heated compact executive sedan category with the presentation of the Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde that has enough grunt under its hood from its 503hp / 510PS turbo V6 to give entry-level supercars a run for their money.
But what about Giulias for everyday people who can’t or won’t spend BMW M3-money for a sporty saloon? Well, Alfa Romeo has you covered, even though officials have remained silent for the most part only revealing that the Giulia’s range will include a newly developed “high-output” turbocharged four-cylinder.
The 4-cylinder gasoline mill is rumored to have a displacement of 2.0-liters and to be available in several outputs, possibly pushing over 300hp in its highest state of tune. A collection of four-cylinder and six-cylinder diesels should round out the range.
As far as how the base Giulia will look like, you can either try to imagine the QV without the spoiler kit, huge alloys, and quad exhausts, or you can simply check out these (quarter-front end) renderings from Italy’s Omniauto and which we think are pretty accurate.
