Chevrolet will equip several of its models with the Active Phone Cooling system, to prevent smartphones from overheating when resting on the wireless charging pod.
Smartphones tend to overheat at times, with the temperature increase to affect their battery longevity and their performance. What Chevrolet did was to install an air vent connected to the vehicle’s air conditioning pointing directly to the wireless charging bin. The vent then blows cold air to the smartphone, keeping its temperature in low levels.
With smartphones becoming the main source of in-car connectivity, Chevrolet brings an extra layer of welcome practicality in its models with the first ones to be the MY2016 Impala, Malibu, Volt and Cruze equipped with the wireless charging feature.
Simple, but great idea.
