Sometimes, custom wheels just don’t work on certain cars, no matter what design or what size the rims are. This VW Beetle however is sort of pulling them off.
Let’s get one thing clear though. This isn’t a cool look. The Vossen VLE1 wheels are attention grabbers, but the Beetle, um, not so much.
Together they look unhappy, even though the Beetle’s timeless design means that it can kind of pull off any type of look – as long as you don’t add car lashes or any type of crap of that nature.
Performance-wise, the best you can do when purchasing a new Beetle is 210 HP coming from a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine, which isn’t all that impressive, but makes for a pretty quick ride. Besides, this car is more about style and showing off, rather than performance or practicality.
The VLE1 Series wheels looked a lot better on this F10 BMW 5 Series, but then again, a good looking premium saloon makes it much easier for you to find it a nice set of wheels.
The Beetle isn’t exactly easy to shop for, but wheels aside, the car itself looks better since they also lowered the ride height.
It kind of reminds me of those generic old cars from Batman: The Animated Series – definitely a coincidence.
All in all, it’s nice to see the Beetle stand out even more, though it would have been even nicer if the wheels would have been more practical and definitely smaller in size.
