We’ve known for quite some time that Fiat plans to replace the aging Punto with a new model that will be part of the extended 500 family.

Rumored to be called 500 Plus, the five-door B-segment hatchback should arrive sometime next year, if Fiat’s five-year plan announced in 2016 is anything to go by.

To help us visualize what the Fiat Punto replacement will look like, Italy’s OmniAuto website has released a rendering that combines styling cues of the 500 city car with a larger body with proportions similar to the 500X crossover.

Personally I’m not a big fan of Fiat’s “one (500) style fits all sizes” approach and I hope the upcoming B-segment hatch will be more than just a 500X with a lower ride height. Anyway, if Fiat decides to build the 500 Plus, it will have to be based on a larger platform than the one used by the 500 city car, possibly an all-new architecture.
