Thanks to China’s – shall we call them simple intellectual property rights legislation, the Landwind X7 is go for sale – cars start arriving in showrooms early next month!
As a reminder, the X7 is a pretty accurate Range Rover Evoque clone and it reaching consumers really is all down to China protecting its own companies no matter what they do – even blatant stuff like this.
Pricing for the model will kick off, according to CarNewsChina, from the equivalent of just $21,740 and peak at just over $24,000… In contrast, a real Evoque in China costs at least three times that.
The X7 still promises to be a fully modern and up to date vehicle, and comes with electronic braking, stability and traction aids, as well as both up- and downhill assist programs, plus lane keep assist; there’s even a touchscreen and Bluetooth in there too.
As you’ll see in the photos of the final production-spec model posted below, the interior looks fairly modern, although it’s not clear what it is inspired by.
We’re curious what’s going to happen after the entire automotive scene stopped and looked at the X7. Yes, we called them a fraud for making it in a deeply righteous tone, but what we inadvertently did was also make it internationally famous – best marketing campaign “Landwind” could have ever hoped for.
There’s no such thing as negative publicity here…
