From a petrolhead’s point of view, I bet that nothing brings more satisfaction than building, restoring, working or maintaining a very rare and exclusive car. Especially if said car is an Italian work of art.

Unfortunately, only a select few will encounter such an experience; unless they buy Lego’s latest Ferrari F40 Creation Set.

Yup, the plastic brick company now offers a detailed model – with lots of goodies – of the iconic and desirable supercar, for petrolheads to build from the ground up.

It’s not as easy as it sounds, because the set includes 1,158 Lego elements – guaranteed to keep you busy for a while.

The scale model is practically “a real Ferrari” since it’s licensed by the Italian car manufacturer. Lego worked closely with Ferrari to emulate the F40’s characteristics as much as possible. The toy (if you can call it that) even has the twin-turbo V8 with a quick release function and the triple exhaust system.

The Lego Ferrari stays true to the metal one by incorporating dozens of style cues, elements and details found on the F40. It even has the NACA air intakes, pop-up headlights and bars inside each door to represent the cable used to open them.

But you know what? Words can’t describe the actual attention to detail, so take a look at the photos and the video, but don’t let your jaw hit the floor.

At $89.99 is not the cheapest way to play with Lego, but it’s the cheapest way to build a Ferrari F40. We’re waiting for a carbon-fiber version now.
