As Renault is preparing to re-launch the Alpine sports car brand, this excellent video from Petrolicious will help you understand what makes the marque so special.
Jürgen Clauss is a man with a deep passion for Alpine sports cars, particularly racing examples. What started as a hobby turned into a collection based around street versions of the Alpine A110 and eventually into an atelier dedicated to restoring Alpine race cars – the alpineLAB.
He became fascinated with competition models from Alpine, which excelled at rallying and hillclimbing back in the day.
Clauss has a 30-year relationship with Alpine and he’s amazed that the A110 doesn’t look dated. “Sometimes, when stepping into my garage, and looking at my cars, I am surprised that it is already 30 years and the Alpine hasn’t worn out yet,” Clauss says. I totally agree with him and apparently so does Renault, which is using the A110 as inspiration for the upcoming Alpine sports car.
