The Mazda CX-3 has already gained universal appraisal for its sporty styling and good handling characteristics in a crowded segment loved by the European market.

Based on the Mazda 2 supermini, the CX-3 offers the practicality of a crossover in a compact size, making it the ideal vehicle for young families.

This Car Buyer review finds it one of the most pleasant to drive cars of its class (as we did on our own review) while it praises the character of the small 1.5-litre 104hp diesel which is more than enough to allow the CX-3 to demonstrate its talents on the road.

Some rivals may be more practical, some other may be cheaper but none of them look as good as the Mazda CX-3. If you can get past the slightly more expensive retail price of it and don’t care so much about residual values or boring practicality issues, the Mazda CX-3 is one solid proposition in its segment.
