Mercedes-Benz are betting this short film is going to inspire people into craving a Maybach product of their own, and it seems like they’re playing with house money.
The Mercedes-Maybach S600 is definitely a part of what you could ‘Automotive Royalty’ in the 21st century. If you want to narrow it down a bit and think present day cars, you can imagine it sitting next to the likes of the Rolls-Royce Ghost.
And yes, even though Rolls-Royce denied this rivalry, cooler automotive heads should prevail and look at it more technically rather than.. basic product marketing.
The video brochure is nicely put together, touching on pretty much all of the Merc-Maybach S600’s qualities, and most of all showing us both sides of the “coin” when it comes to ownership.
You can be picked up from the airport (you either own or booked a private jet) and be chauffeur-driven home, where you can later on drive yourself and your significant other to a restaurant or that weird place from Eyes Wide Shut..wherever it is rich people go.
In terms of performance, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 will hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5 seconds flat. The car weighs about 2.3 tons, so that number isn’t at all underwhelming. It’s powered by a twin turbo V12 unit, good for 530 PS and 830 Nm (612 lb-ft) – which should make for some effortless driving, especially when overtaking.
In Germany, you’ll need to spend €187,841 if you’re planning on buying the S600 version, though you can get the S500 for about €50,000 less.
